The Ground is a place where people from all backgrounds and every sphere of life can belong and grow together. Led by Pastors Jamie and Dani Higginbotham, The Ground Vineyard Church is a church plant in Riverhead North-West Auckland and is part of Vineyard Churches Aotearoa.
In 2008 Jamie and Dani followed the call of God to New Zealand, leaving their home in Manchester, England, to study at Faith Bible College in Tauranga. During that time, God stirred their hearts for Aotearoa and they knew God was calling them to pastor a church. Over a decade later they now have three beautiful children and many incredible stories of faith and wisdom gained through various roles in ministry leadership and further study in theology.
In 2016, whilst travelling to work each day through Riverhead, Dani sensed God stirring her heart to pray for the town. Everyday, for over a year, Dani prayed for God to move in Riverhead, praying specifically that God would “prepare the ground”. When God spoke to Jamie and Dani about planting a church, they knew straight away that God was calling them to the growing Riverhead community in North-West Auckland.
Why ‘The Ground’?
We believe that the call of The Ground is to “cultivate good soil for growth”. We see a healthy place where people can grow; encouraging each other, learning what it is to be a follower of Jesus and drawing closer to Him together.
In a society where busyness is the norm, the heart of The Ground is to be a place of refreshing and nourishing - that as a community, as families and as individuals, we would thrive and flourish!
